Long Cay, off South Caicos
A beautiful anchorage, situated between an uninhabited island (Long Cay) and a shallow reef. We explored both.

Difficult to find a sandy spot to anchor in. Looked beautiful. But the kids were too tired to explore and the weather was due to get worse, so we didn’t explore ashore much.
We got to swim with stingrays just off an uninhabited island. Enough said really – spectacular place, we wish we had stayed longer.
Clear water, plenty of space to anchor between the coral heads. We spent a few days here, particularly enjoying the museum.
Anchored here to check-in to Turks and Caicos at the comercial dock. Despite some challenges, enjoyed a walk around the beautiful salt pond nearby.
Slow but wonderful sail for our first passage in a year! Caught a Mahi Mahi (yum), and saw a whale breaching repeatedly on the way out of Samana. Great trip.
A long post, with many many photos, written at the end of our year in Samana.
Where will SV Humpback be spending hurricane season, and how have COVID restrictions impacted these sailing plans? Part 3 of 3.
Might be here for a while …
Stayed in a hotel to spend some time with uncle Gordon and auntie Sophie. Whale tour and waterfall. Like playing tourists :-).
