Bedford Cay

28th May 2022

We visited Bedford because a cruising guidebook mentioned a beach, and Hector (very much) wanted to visit a “proper beach” with enough sand to put his new shovel to work in. Reader, there was no beach, the sand has long gone, to be replaced by “sulphureous mud” that Hector sank into. And the mosquitos… oh the mosquitos.

We left within half an hour.

Note: its deeper in shore than on the charts, and a yacht could snug up close to shore in the small bay, providing some protection from NW-E winds. Judging by the amount of mud that came up on our Rocna after its brief stay on the ground, holding would be excellent too. But there are better options in the area.
