Crossing the Atlantic – Day Fourteen

Our slowest day of sailing so far. Tootled along at 3.5 knots or so for a good portion of the day – we didn’t fancy the noise of the engine (which would only have given us an additional 1.5 knots at our slow-one-engine-cruise in any case).

Replaced fan belt on the starboard engine and ran it for long enough to check it was OK. While I was doing it I checked out how the alternator mount works in more detail, to see how easy the port engine will be to fix (answer: easier than I feared, but still don’t fancy it at sea unless absolutely necessary).

Redeemed by some lovely sailing on a broad reach through the night.
