Crossing the Atlantic – Day Five

20kt or so winds consistently in the morning, at a good angle for us. Unlike on a broad reach, we’re most comfortable at speed when heading dead down wind – if the boat averages 8kt or more it seems to stay on top of the swell, and surf a fair few of them at 10-12kt. Lovely sailing, and because the apparent wind is so much lower it doesn’t feel like the conditions are heavy at all.
